2011 Security Advice

Today, spam is still a problem, viruses and other “bad” things are still circulating, and spyware is worse than ever. These are generally lumped into a category called “Malware” these days, from the French “mal” for “bad”.

To protect yourselves, I still advise the use of Spybot, as well as Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for anti-spyware, and Avast (just updated to version 6) and AVG for anti-virus. In addition, I use ZoneAlarm for my firewall (to keep the “baddies” from “calling home” and sending your private info to the writer of the spyware). Also, Adobe Reader is now on version 10, which they say is the most secure yet. As well, Mozilla’s Firefox has now updated to version 4, with many new features.
